Prof. Karsten Gaede appointed to interdisciplinary governmental commission

Professor Dr. Karsten Gaede was appointed to the “Commission University Medicine 2020”. In the course of the work of this interdisciplinary governmental commission Prof. Gaede, one of two managing directors of the Medical Law Institute, together with five specialists from the fields of medicine, research, nursing care and economy, will assess how the university medical departments in Greifswald und Rostock can satisfy the future requirements for both economical and efficient and patient-welfare oriented treatment and research. Tsambikakis & Partner grows in Stuttgart with Dr. Florian Bach

Tsambikakis & Partner continues its growth trajectory. From October 1st 2018 Dr. Florian Bach will manage the firm’s branch office in Stuttgart. International Criminal Law Conference – Presentation by lawyer Dr. Diana Stage

On Thursday, November 11th 2018 the 9th International Criminal Law Conference “Commercial Crimes: Russian and European Practice” will take place in Moscow.

Seminar on Secs. 299a, 299b CC – Cooperation instead of Corruption at the Cologne Attorneys Association on November 27th 2018

Tsambikakis & Partner, in cooperation with the Cologne Attorney Association, will hold a seminar on Secs. 299a, 299b CC on November 27th 2018. The speakers will be Lawyer Prof. Dr. Michael Tsambikakis and Lawyer Daniela Etterer.

The seminar will give a general introduction on the offenses and deal with a number of selected problems related to cooperation contracts, like part time employment contracts for resident physicians in hospitals. The will also be an opportunity to exchange thoughts on practical experiences with the offenses.

Lecture event with Senior Public Prosecutor (OStA) Alexander Badle, Lawyer Prof. Dr. Michael Tsambikakis and Lawyer Daniela Etterer on Secs. 299a, 299b CC

In the course of our lecture series “On the safe side” (“Auf der sicheren Seite”) we will hold a lecture- and debate-event on “Cooperation instead of Corruption” on September 20th 2018; the event targets senior staff of healthcare companies, physicians and other service providers in the health care sector. Since the coming into force of the offenses of corruption in the healthcare sector (Secs. 299a, 299b CC), uncertainty dominates when addressing question of what kind of cooperation is legal and how those co-operations need to be organised. Two years after the inception of the offenses, we would like to take stock, give an account of our experiences and provide valuable suggestions on dealing with co-operations.

The speakers at the event will be Senior Public Prosecutor (OStA) with the Office of the Attorney General in Frankfurt Badle, Lawyer Prof. Dr. Michael Tsambikakis and Lawyer Daniela Etterer.

Young Commercial Criminal Law – Presentation by Lawyer Dr. Mathias Grzesiek

On Friday, October 12th 2018 the lecture- and debate-event “Young Commercial Criminal Law – New Perspectives on Theory and Practice”, hosted by the Young Criminal Law Association (Junges Strafrecht e.V.) and the Commercial Criminal Law Association (Wirtschaftsstrafrechtliche Vereinigung e.V. – WisteV) will take place for the first time in Frankfurt/Main.

Palliative Care and Fasting at the end of live – Criminal Advancement of Suicides? – 4th Medical Criminal Law Night

The Commercial Criminal Law Association (Wirtschaftsstrafrechtliche Vereinigung e.V. – WisteV) will hold its fourth Medical Criminal Law Night together wirh medstra and Bucerius Law School on May 29th 2018. The event will have the title “Palliative Care and Fasting at the end of live – Criminal Advancement of Suicides?” and ask the question to what extent the offense threatens physicians even when they are not part of the mainly targeted assisted suicide associations.

Professor Dr. Karsten Gaede will hold the welcome address and give the introductory lecture on “Questions of Sec. 217 CC in the healthcare sector”. Lawyer Professor Dr. Michael Tsambikakis will moderate the event and give the concluding remarks.

Daniela Etterer elected to the Medical Law Committee of the Cologne Attorneys Association (Kölner Anwaltverein e.V.)

On May 8th 2018 lawyer Daniela Etterer was elected to the Medical Law Committee of the Cologne Attorneys Association.

The committee deals with Medical Law in its entirety, especially with the questions that are of relevance to lawyers. This notably includes question concerning panel doctors (with the exception of question concerning remuneration), hospital law, performance and remuneration laws (German Medical Fee Index (GOÄ), German Dentistry Fee Index (GOZ), Uniform Assessment Schedule (EBM), etc.), Criminal Law questions concerning physicians, Medical Liability Law as applicable to physicians, dentists and hospitals and Professional Responsibility Regulations. The committee functions as a forum to exchange experience in the field among its members as well as with interested guests. Customer Care vs. Corruption – Ole Mückenberger to hold workshop at employers’ association

Professor Gaede opens Medical Law Institute at Bucerius Law School

On February 21st 2018, within the framework of the 3rd Bucerius Medical Law Day, the Interdisciplinary Institute of Medical Law (Interdisziplinäres Institut für Medizinrecht – IMR) was founded. Professor Dr. Karsten Gaede was appointed one of the two managing directors. The IMR is supported by a large number of partners from the fields of medical science and legal practice. The institute is assisted by an interdisciplinary advisory board. Professor Dr. Michael Tsambikakis Certified Specialist Lawyer for Criminal Law and Medical Law, has been appointed as a member of the advisory board by the Bucerius Law School Senate. It is the aim of the IMR, to shape and establish an efficient and balanced health-care law for all those involved and to competently accompany those practising in the highly challenging field of healthcare.
